The best eggless chocolate chip cookies


So we had no eggs or butter left in the kitchen but my husband and I were craving chocolate chip cookies at 9 pm. I haven’t had time to run to the grocery store yet and then I was going to go out on a fast run to get them but realized that on Sunday most places closed early. So I did some web browsing and came across this one. I was kinda sketchy about this cookie dough because it had such a lighter look to it and just wasn’t sure I wanted to waste my time on making cookies that weren’t good because we were craving them so bad. After they baked they actually looked really good. They didn’t stay in a ball from when you just ice cream scooped them onto the cookie sheet and they didn’t flatten like you had too much butter in the mix. They turned out perfect and nice and golden. Now it was just a matter of tasting them. Holy Cow!!! You can’t tell any difference from what we normally make and they have this slight taste of the applesauce but not enough to tell. They have a nice crisp on the outside and super soft inside. It’s a perfect cookie!!! I will be making these again if I’m low on supplies!

1 1/2 cup Crisco Shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups chocolate chips

-Preheat oven to 375
-Combine shortening, sugars, applesauce & vanilla until smooth.
-In separate bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt with wire whisk.
– Add the flour mixture to the shortening mixture and stir until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
